Cavaliers Compete at NCAA Pre-Nationals

Virginia’s Jan Foerster took tenth overall (23:45) in the Pre-Nationals White 8K race held today (Oct. 14) at Indiana State University on the course that will be used for the 2006 NCAA Cross Country Championships. Teammates Emily Harrison (20:40) and Kara Scanlin (20:47) finished seven seconds apart to both notch top-25 finishes in the women’s 6K Blue Race to help the women, ranked 26nd nationally, finish 11th overall with 359 points, just behind No. 7 Princeton (336) and No. 11 Iowa (346) .
The women finished 11th out of 35 teams competing and placed four runners in the top 100 overall. The men placed 12th out of 35 teams, including defeating No. 19 and southeast regional foe William & Mary. The Cavaliers also picked up out-of-region wins over No. 20 Arizona State and No. 28 Eastern Michigan.
Virginia will host the 2006 ACC Cross Country Championships on Saturday, October 28 at Panorama Farms. The men are the defending ACC Champions.
