Richmond, VA – The Virginia women’s golf program’s B-Team owns a five shot lead after the first day of play at Richmond’s 12-team Spider Fall Invitational. The Cavaliers shot 311 and enter Tuesday’s final round five shots ahead of second-place Campbell at Virginia Crossings Golf Club.

Virginia was led by a pair of 76s turned in by Kristen Simpson and Whitney Neuhauser. They finished the first round tied for third and trail tournament leader AnnMarie Dalton of High Point by two shots. Lindsay Robinson is in eighth place at 79 while Sally Shonk shot 80 to finish the first day in 12th place. Ashley Mayo carded an 86 to stand 37th and Kira Mayo, playing as an individual, was 42nd at 87.

The final round is scheduled to start at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday.
