CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia women’s rowing team opens its fall season at the Head of the Charles Regatta on Sunday, October 22. The regatta, the world’s largest two-day rowing event, is held on the Charles River in Boston, Mass.

In its 42nd year, the Head of the Charles features over 26 different race events and 7,500 rowers from the youth, collegiate, and senior levels. The Cavaliers are scheduled to compete in the championship four event, which features 21 teams at 3:23 p.m., and championship eight race, which includes 46 teams at 4:26 p.m.

Virginia finished fourth in the championship eight at last year’s competition. Virginia additionally claimed a 10th-place finish in the youth eight event and a 12th-place finish in the championship four competition.

The Cavaliers captured their seventh consecutive ACC Championships in 2006. Virginia won all events at the competition. UVa also finished second in team competition at the South Regional Championship.
