GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia freshman Monica Wright (Woodbridge, Va.) has been named the ACC Rookie of the Week, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced on Monday.

In Virginia’s only action on the week- a 75-58 win at Marshall on Dec. 5- Wright netted 18 points, a season-high seven rebounds, and a season-high six assists in the road win. The Preseason ACC Rookie of the Year is second in team scoring with 13.9 ppg. She also grabs 5.1 rpg and is second in assists with 30. Wright has started all nine games for the Cavaliers.

The ACC weekly honor is the third for Wright this season. The frosh has also earned the Conference honor on Nov. 20 and Dec. 4.

Virginia (7-2) begins a four-game homestand with Cleveland State (2-9) on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. at the John Paul Jones Arena. The Cavaliers then entertain No. 7/7 Connecticut (6-0) on Monday, Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. at JPJA. EspnU will televise the game live nationally.
