GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia freshman Monica Wright (Woodbridge, Va.) has been named the ACC co-Rookie of the Week, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced on Monday.

Wright shared the honor with Wake Forest’s Mekia Valentine.

Wright added 12 points, including a career-best two treys, against No. 1 Duke on Friday. The freshman also had five boards and three steals while playing 34 minutes against the Blue Devils. UVa held Duke to a 15-point win, well below its 27.7 scoring margin.

In Sunday’s win over Miami, Wright helped UVa snap a five-game ACC losing streak, pacing the ‘Hoos with 20 points, including two three-pointers. She also grabbed nine boards, just one shy of a double-double. The guard also had two steals and a block in the victory.

After 23 games, Wright stands second in team scoring with 14.2 ppg. A starter in all 23 games, Wright stands second is assists with 53.

The ACC weekly honor is the sixth for Wright this season. The frosh has also earned the Conference honor on Nov. 20, Dec. 4, Dec. 11, Jan 2, and Jan.15.

Virginia (13-10 overall, 3-6 ACC) hosts North Florida in the final non-conference game on Tuesday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. at John Paul Jones Arena.
