The No. 28 Virginia women’s tennis team (4-2) travels to the northeast this weekend to take on a pair of Ivy League opponents. The Cavaliers face No. 54 Harvard (0-4) tomorrow at noon and face Brown (3-3) at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday.

In their last match, Virginia fell to No. 30 Tennessee in Knoxville, 4-3, in what was a tightly contested contest. The Cavaliers came up just short as Tennessee swept the doubles matches, but Virginia came back to win three of the first five completed singles matches. First-year Kristen McVitty (Woodland Hills, Calif.), second-year Maggie Yahner (Las Vegas, Nev.) and fourth-year Caroline Hammond (Williamsburg, Va.) all won their singles matches against the Lady Vols. Hammond now sports a 2007 record of 9-1 in singles play, while McVitty has a 7-2 record and Yahner stands at 8-2.

Virginia returns home for the first time in over a month to take on No. 36 Purdue at the Boyd Tinsley Courts on Saturday, March 3. Match time is set for noon.
