GREENSBORO, N.C. – The No. 8 seed Virginia women’s basketball team will face No. 9 seed Clemson in the first round of the 2007 ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament, conference officials announced on Sunday evening.

The Cavaliers (16-13, 5-9 ACC) and the Lady Tigers (12-17, 4-10) tip off on Thursday, March 1 at 3 p.m. The Regional Sports Network will televise the game live. The winner of the first round game advances to Friday’s quarterfinal game against No. 1 seed Duke at 3 p.m. The championship is slated for Sunday, March 4 at 1 p.m. All games will be played at the Greensboro Coliseum.

This year, seven of the 11 ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament gamesare set to be televised. Two of the first round games on Thursday andtwo of the quarterfinal round games on Friday will be aired on theleague’s regional sports networks (Fox Sports Net South, Comcast SportsNet, Fox Sports Net Florida, New England Sports Network). Saturday’s semifinals and Sunday’s championship game will be televised nationally by Fox Sports Net. This is the sixth year that the tournament will have three nationally televised match-ups.

The Virginia Ticket Office has sold out its allotment of tournamenttickets. Fans who would like to purchase tickets should contact theGreensboro Coliseum at (800) 397-3100.
