MARION, Va. – The Virginia women’s rowing team swept all five races from Michigan State in a scrimmage on Saturday at Hungry Mother State Park.

The Cavaliers won the varsity eight, second varsity eight, varsity four, novice eight, and second novice eight. All races were untimed distances of 1,000 meters.

“I was just very happy across the board,” UVa head coach Kevin Sauer said. “I look forward to good competition throughout the spring season. We really appreciate Michigan State coming down to race us.”

Virginia hosts the Canadian National Team in scrimmage action on Saturday, March 17 at the Rivanna Reservoir before opening its spring season with Michigan and Ohio State on March 31 at Lake Monticello.
