The Virginia football team opens its 2007 home schedule Saturday against ACC rival Duke at the Carl Smith Center, home of David A. Harrison III Field at Scott Stadium. The gameday sponsor is U.S. Cellular.

Here’s a look at the gameday festivities for the Cavaliers’ home opener.
9 a.m. Fan Fest opens inside the Aquatics and Fitness Center across from the stadium. Fan Fest is free to the public, features inflatable games, football skill challenges, face tattoos, sign making and big-screen televisions for children and remains open until a half-hour prior to kickoff.
9 a.m. Cavalier One opens in front of the Aquatics and Fitness Center. WINA Radio will broadcast their pregame show live from Cavalier One.
10 a.m. All stadium gates open.
10:05 a.m. Wahoo Walk, featuring the Cavalier football team and coaching staff and led by members of the Cavalier Marching Band, begins from the Clock tower at the corner of Alderman and Whitehead roads.
11:48 a.m. The Golden Knights Parachute Team drops into Scott Stadium.
11:52 a.m. Kroger Grab A Grand promotion takes place on the field.
11:55 a.m. The Cavalier Marching Band performance begins.
12:05 p.m. Adventures of Cavman begins on `Hoo Vision.
12:10 p.m. Kickoff – Virginia vs. Duke
Cavman
Cavman and his horse, Sabre, will be roaming the parking lots before the game and meeting with the fans.
Gameday Programs
Gameday programs, selling for $5 and featuring seniors Chris Gould and Ryan Weigand, will be on sale outside the stadium before the game as well as inside the stadium.
Home Opener Concessions Drink Special
For Saturday’s game, all 32-ounce fountain drinks can be purchased at the 22-ounce price of $3.50.
Text Messaging
Fans can interact with `Hoo Vision through text messaging. Send greetings by texting UVA and your message to 88398. Your message could appear on `Hoo Vision and you will receive a bounce back coupon good for 20 percent off at Cavalier Team Shop locations adjacent to the east and west gates and on the fifth level in Scott Stadium. The Cavalier Team Shop also is located in John Paul Jones Arena or online at virginiasports.com. Carrier charges to individual text messaging plans apply and you must enter “UVA” before your message.
Fan Patrol
The Virginia Fan Patrol is a new addition to the Virginia football game day experience for the 2007 season. The Virginia Fan Patrol will be walking around the perimeter of the stadium and Cavalier Fan Fest looking for the most spirited UVa fan for the Best Buy Snapshot of the Game. The image will be featured on `Hoo Vision during thegame and will win a prize from Best Buy.
The Virginia Fan Patrol will also be tossing t-shirts to fans after UVa scores and distributing coupons redeemable for FREE concession items to the most spirited Cavalier fans.
Television
This game is being televised regionally on the Lincoln Financial Sports/Raycom ACC network. Steve Martin (play-by-play), Rick “Doc” Walker (analyst) and Mike Hogewood (sidelines) call the action.
Radio
The game also will be broadcast on the radio airwaves by the Virginia Sports Network, originating at WINA/WWWV in Charlottesville. Mac McDonald calls the play-by-play. He is joined in the broadcast booth by former Cavalier great Frank Quayle, the 1968 ACC Player of the Year. Former UVa quarterback Tim Sherman reports from the sidelines. This broadcast also will be available on XM Satellite Radio channel 192.
