CHARLOTTESVILLE-Virginia senior guard Sean Singletary (Philadelphia, Pa./The William Penn Charter School) is a first-team selection to Collegehoops.net’s 2007-08 Preseason All-America team.

Joining Singletary on the Collegehoops.net Preseason All-America first team are guard Chris Lofton of Tennessee, forwards Chase Budinger of Arizona and Tyler Hansbrough of North Carolina, and center Roy Hibbert of Georgetown. Second-team selections are guards Darren Collison (UCLA) and Drew Neitzel (Michigan State), forwards Brandon Rush (Kansas) and D.J. White (Indiana), and center Brook Lopez (Stanford). The third team is comprised of guards D.J. Augustin (Texas), Chris Douglas-Roberts (Memphis) and Jamont Gordon (Mississippi State), and forwards Brandon Costner (NC State) and Michael Beasley (Kansas State).

Singletary was a third-team selection to Collegehoops.net’s 2007 All-America team. He also earned third-team All-America recognition by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), was named to the 16-member collegeinsider.com All-America team and received honorable mention All-America recognition from The Associated Press last season.

He was a first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection for the second consecutive year in 2007.

Singletary finished the 2006-07 season with averages of 19.0 points, 4.7 assists and 4.6 rebounds a game. He led the Cavaliers in points (609, 19.0 ppg.), assists (151, 4.7 apg.), three-point field goals made (79, 2.47 a game), free throw percentage (.872, 190-218), steals (38, 1.2 spg.) and minutes played (1,064, 33.2 mpg.).

He ranked second in the Atlantic Coast Conference in three-point field goals made (79, 2.47 a game) and free throw percentage (.872, 190-218), third in scoring (609 points, 19.0 ppg.), fifth in assists (151, 4.7 apg.) and 10th in minutes played (1,064, 33.2 mpg.).

Singletary is fifth on Virginia’s career three-point field goals made list (164), eighth on the career assists list (385), tied for 10th on the career steals list (140) and tied for 18th on the career points scored list (1,426 points).
