HEAD COACH RICK STOCKSTILL

On tonight’s loss to Virginia
It hurts. Our guys hurt because we had a chance to do something special. I am proud of our guys and their effort. We fought our guts out. It was a phenomenal game and I am proud of the way we played. It was a great display of toughness by our team.

On Virginia’s game-winning drive
[Virginia] got hot and made plays towards the end. We had them covered pretty well but [Quarterback Jameel Sewell] hit his tight ends down the stretch. We didn’t bust our coverages but we just couldn’t make plays towards the end of the game.

On the play of the special teams
I thought [Punter David DeFatta] was critical and put them in bad field position. He kept us in the game. In the third quarter and I thought he did a great job. Our guys did a good job at [kick-off and punt] coverage. They had the leading returner in the country and we did not give him anything.

On Middle Tennessee QB Dwight Dasher
Dwight is a player. If there was any doubt in him before the game he answered those questions. He threw the ball in tight spots and that is three games without a turnover. The way he ran the ball was great. I have a lot of respect for him and you can see our guys are responding to him.

WIDE RECEIVER PATRICK HONEYCUTT

On tonight’s game
[Virginia] played hard but we brought our “A game” and unfortunately they came out on top.

On the play of Middle Tennessee QB Dwight Dasher
Dasher runs well and that is part of the game plan. He has played well and as an offense we felt prepared.

CORNERBACK BRADLEY ROBINSON

On Virginia’s final drive
The first play of the drive they had a nice pass to their tight end but we didn’t make plays when we needed to the most.

On taking on Memphis next weekend
It is a big game and they are going to be pretty hyped up and we are going to be ready to play.

On tonight’s crowd
It was a great crowd and I think we didn’t disappoint them. Our fans will go home excited about Blue Raider football.
