TALLAHASSEE, Fla. The Virginia volleyball team (14-9, 9-5 ACC) fell to Florida State 3-2 Saturday on the road in five games. Game scores were 28-30, 30-24, 24-30, 30-24 and 9-15. Fourth year Sarah Kirkwood led the Cavaliers with 22 kills.

Kendahl Voelker and Shannon Davis aided the UVa attack with 13 and 12 kills, respectively. Setter Kelly Irvin finished with 55 assists on the night. Beth Shelton also added three service aces while Melissa Caldwell chipped in two aces.

Defensively, Caldwell paced UCa with 20 digs, while first year A.J. Cushman recorded 18 digs. Kirwood added nine and Irvin finished with eight. Davis also led the squad with four blocks against the Seminoles.

Virginia finished with a .238 hitting percentage, recording 69 kills on the night. Florida State, meanwhile, finished with a .289 percentage, including a solid .417 mark in the third game and a .667 percentage in the fifth and deciding game. In contrast, the Cavaliers hit .130 in the final game.

Mira Djuric led Florida State (11-11, 8-6 ACC) with a match-high 23 kills, while Summer Weissing added 26 digs. Four Seminoles tallied hitting percentages of .400 or better.

Virginia returns home next weekend after playing its last four matches away from Charlottesville. The Cavaliers play host to Clemson at 7 p.m. Friday in Memorial Gymnasium.
