Football Water Crew

Prevention of injuries, including heat illnesses, is a major concern of the Virginia Athletics Sports Medicine department. In order to ensure that the football team has adequate water and Gatorade available to rehydrate during practices and games, the department employs five “hydration specialists” per semester. These individuals arrive 45 minutes before practice to set up the field, and then break down the field at the end of practice. During practice, each member of the juice crew remains with a position coach and his players, and is responsible for the hydration of those players

During a two-a-day practice in August, the juice crew works approximately 8 hours per day with a break between practices. They are entitled to meals at the training table with the football team. For practice coverage during the season, hydration specialists work Monday through Thursday, for 3-4 hours each afternoon. Four of the staff assist the sports medicine staff on the sidelines during each game, including travel to road games.

Compensation includes hourly wages, Nike gear, meals at the training table, and travel with the team to away games. The job requires the ability to lift objects of up to 50 pounds in weight. We are seeking motivated, professional, dependable individuals with a strong work ethic to fill these positions. If you are a current UVA student interested in becoming a part of the Virginia Football Juice Crew, please send a resume and class schedule to:
