GREENSBORO, N.C.Virginia’s Sean Singletary is the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for his play in the Cavaliers’ victories over Howard and Arizona last week. It is the fourth time in his career Singletary has received the award.

The 6-0 senior guard from Philadelphia, Pa., averaged 23.5 points, eight assists and four rebounds a game in Virginia’s two victories last week.

Singletary had game-high totals of 23 points and eight assists, and also had four rebounds in the Cavaliers’ 92-53 home victory over Howard on Nov. 14.

In Virginia’s 75-72 win at No. 17 Arizona on Nov. 17, Singletary had game-high totals of 24 points and eight assists, and he had four rebounds. Singletary made two free throws with 1:22 left in the game to break a 69-69 tie and give the Cavaliers the lead for good. He then made a jump shot with 39 seconds remaining in the game to stretch Virginia’s lead to four points (73-69). Singletary made all 11 of his free throw attempts in the game.

J.J. Hickson of NC State was named the ACC Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week.
