Reyering, Barlow and Tierney Earn VaSID Men's Soccer Honors

CHARLOTTESVILLE Virginia men’s soccer players Yannick Reyering, Neil Barlow and Chris Tierney earned VaSID men’s soccer honors, the organization has announced.

Reyering, a first team All-ACC selection, led the conference with 13 goals during the regular-season and was named to the VaSID All-State University Division First Team. A native of Mettingen, Germany, Reyering was one of the most explosive offensive players in the nation throughout the season, tallying a hat trick against Liberty on Oct. 23 and notching four game-winning goals in 2007.

For his career, Reyering amassed 39 goals and 10 assists for 87 points. Prior to Virginia’s last regular-season game at Wake Forest, Reyering suffered a season-ending knee injury. He was named one of 15 semifinalists for the Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy and a second team All-South Region by the NSCAA.

Barlow, a second-year out of Herndon, Va., was named to the second team. He contributed 11 points to the Cavalier offense this year, including the game-winning assist in Virginia’s NCAA first round victory over Saint Peter’s.

Tierney was also named to the second team. A fourth-year midfielder from Wellesley, Mass., he finished his illustrious career ranking second on the team this season with seven goals and seven assists for 21 points. During the regular season, he was named to College Soccer News’ Team of the Week on Sept. 4 after netting three goals in the first two games of the season.

The Cavaliers played in their 27th-consecutive NCAA Tournament in 2007, extending the longest active streak in the nation. Virginia advanced to the second round and finished with an overall record of 12-8-2.
