GREENSBORO, N.C. Ben Rubeor and Duke’s Ned Crotty share the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week accolade for their play in leading their teams to victory last week.
This is the second time Rubeor has been honored this season.
He helped the Cavaliers rebound from the loss to Duke with a 4-goal, 2-assist performance in their 11-7 win over Dartmouth on Saturday.
The senior attackman from Towson, Md., scored two goals and added an assist to help UVa rally from an early 2-0 deficit and take a 6-2 lead midway through the second quarter.
Dartmouth cut the lead to 6-4, but he scored twice more in the final three minutes of the first half to put UVa ahead 8-4.
He added an assist early in the fourth quarter to help the Wahoos extend their lead from 8-6 to 9-6 with fewer than 10 minutes to play on the way to the victory.
Crotty scored three goals in Duke’s 10-6 win over Army on Saturday.
Both teams return to action this weekend in the ACC Men’s Lacrosse Championship at UVa’s Klckner Stadium. Duke earned the top seed and faces fourth-seed North Carolina Friday evening at 5 pm. The Cavaliers, No. 3 seed, play second-seeded Maryland at 7:30 pm.
