JACKSONVILLE, Fla. The Virginia baseball team moves into postseason play this week as it competes in the ACC Championship at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Fla. Virginia, the tournament’s sixth seed, will compete in the Division ‘B’ bracket and plays No. 3-seed North Carolina at approximately 8 p.m. Wednesday, No. 2-seed Florida State at 5 p.m. Friday and No. 7-seed Wake Forest at approximately 8 p.m. Saturday.

All three of Virginia’s games will be televised on SportSouth. The Wednesday and Saturday games also will be available on SUN Sports, while the Wednesday matchup will also air on Comcast Mid-Atlantic and the Friday contest also will be shown on NESN. In addition, ISP Sports will be the national radio carrier of this year’s league tournament. All 13 contests also will air on XM Radio (Channel 190) and ISP’s national network of affiliates. Locally, WINA Radio (1070-AM) will have coverage of all of Virginia’s contests in the tournament.

For the second straight year, the tournament will consist of two four-team brackets. The two teams with the best record within their respective brackets will square off for the championship at 1 p.m. Sunday. The Division A’ bracket consists of No. 1-seed Miami, No. 4-seed NC State, No. 5-seed Georgia Tech and No. 8-seed Clemson.

Virginia, which is one of five teams to have competed in all 35 of the tournaments, is 37-60 all-time in the ACC Baseball Championship and went 2-1 last season. The Cavaliers get a stiff test right off the bat, playing the new No. 1 team in the nation, North Carolina, which will start 2008 ACC Pitcher of the Year Alex White in the opening game.

Wednesday: UVa RHP Andrew Carraway (3-3, 3.98 ERA) vs. North Carolina RHP Alex White (8-3, 3.03)
Friday: UVa RHP Jacob Thompson (5-4, 4.46) vs. Florida State RHP Ryan Strauss (8-0, 4.10)
Saturday: UVa LHP Pat McAnaney (4-4, 3.09) vs. Wake Forest RHP Brad Kledzik (2-5, 7.93)
