CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. Fifth-year Kaitlin Swagart and third-year Katie Shannon have earned Academic Honor Roll status as announced by the Inside Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). A total of 159 Division I student-athletes were recognized on the 2008 IWLCA Academic Honor Roll.

Swagart played in 17 games for the Cavaliers’ attack this past season, starting 13. She tallied 22 points on 16 goals and six assists for Virginia, in addition to winning five draw controls. Swagart graduated this spring with a graduate degree in education psychology in social foundations.

Shannon played in 17 contests for Virginia this spring, scooping up 11 ground balls and collecting eight caused turnovers. The defender also scored two goals last season, including the first of her career. A nursing major, Shannon has been chosen to live on the lawn this year, one of the highest honors for a UVa student.

In order to be eligible for consideration, players must have achieved at least junior year status and have a minimum grade point average of 3.2.
