Third-year Brittani Rendina is a libero for the Cavaliers’ volleyball team and leads the squad in digs this year. Rendina recently sat down with VirginiaSports.com to talk about some off-the-court experiences and interests prior to traveling to Illinois for Virginia’s final preseason tournament this weekend.

Virginia will face No. 4 UCLA at 11 a.m. ET and Northwestern at 8 p.m. ET on Friday, before concluding the tournament with a match vs. Georgetown at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday.

Question: Were you able to do anything exciting this summer?
Rendina: I studied abroad in Valencia, Spain. I was able to experience an amazing different culture, go to the festival of San Fermine (Running of the Bulls), and dance in discos until 6 a.m., before going to watch the sunrise on the beach. It was incredible. Oh yea, we took some classes too.

Question: What sports did you play besides volleyball throughout your life?
Rendina: In junior high, I ran track and cross country, played basketball, and cheerleading. But once I started high school, I only played volleyball.

Question: If you could compete in the Olympics in any event (excluding volleyball) what would it be and why?
Rendina: Pole vault because I’d love to feel like I can fly.

Question: What is your pre-game ritual?
Rendina: I always write an acronym on my hand, the letters always stand for different things, but they’re always a reminder for something. My team always tries to guess what they stand for and it drives them crazy that I’ll NEVER tell.

Question: What are your favorite TV shows?
Rendina: One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, The OC, Heroes and most other trashy teen soap operas.

Question: What is the most embarrassing song on your mp3 player/ipod right now?
Rendina: “I like beans” by The Retarded Choir.

Question: What do you see yourself doing 10 years from now?
Rendina: I mean, I haven’t given it much thought, but I will probably be a top executive in a male-dominated multinational corporation. I will probably have been overseas working for the last few years, and will be returning to the states to start a family with my incredibly attractive, successful, athletic, brunette husband!

Question: If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?
Rendina: I really enjoy my own life…

Question: What is one of your favorite classes that you’ve taken at UVa?
Rendina: I LOVE my classes now in the Comm School. I love waking up every morning and going to class even though it’s at 8 a.m. I love learning things that are relevant to my life and the world I live in.
