Charlottesville, VA The Virginia men’s golf team makes the short trek to Richmond this week to compete in the two-day VCU Shootout, Monday-Tuesday. The 15-team field will play at the Hermitage Country Club (par-71, 6,955 yards).

Virginia’s lineup includes freshman Ben Kohles, sophomores Will Collins, Amory Davis and Steven Rojas and junior Kyle Stough. First-year Bruce Woodall will compete as a non-scoring individual.

The tournament includes team from VCU, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, East Carolina, Maryland, Richmond, Old Dominion, Wichita State, UNC Wilmington, Augusta State, South Florida, Penn State, Iowa and Southeast Louisiana.

The Cavaliers opened the season with a seventh-place finish at the 18-team Maryland Intercollegiate, that was shorted to a 36-hole event due to inclement weather. Kohles led UVa with a 13th-place finish at 2-under 142, including a 5-under 67 during the second round.

UVa’s lineup for the VCU Shootout includes four of the players who competed at Maryland. Rojas replaces Woodall after not qualifying for the season-opening tournament.
