CHAPEL HILL , N.C. — The Virginia men’s tennis team had two singles players and two doubles teams advance on Saturday at the ITA Mideast Regional Championships. Houston Barrick (Brentwood, Tenn.) and Dominic Inglot (London, England) advanced to the round of 16 of singles and the teams of Inglot and Michael Shabaz (Fairfax, Va.) and Barrick and Sanam Singh (Chandigarh, India) advanced to the doubles quarterfinals.

Inglot, the No. 1 seed and defending champion, won a pair of matches Saturday. He defeated Thibaut Charron of VCU 6-1, 6-3 in the round of 64 and Elliot Potvin of Georgia Tech 6-3, 6-2 in the round of 32.

Barrick, the No. 9 seed, topped Jamie Pulgar of NC State 3-6, 7-6, 6-4 in the round of 64 before defeating Jared Pinsky of Duke 7-6, 6-2 in the round of 32.

Singh, the No. 12 seed, was upset in the round of 32 by Christian Welte of NC State 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. Lee Singer (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) fell in the round of 32 to Pedro Graber of Virginia Tech 6-4, 6-4. First-year Drew Courtney (Clifton, Va.) suffered a 6-1, 7-6 loss to Kevin King of Georgia Tech in the round of 64.

The team of Inglot and Shabaz, the No. 3 seed in doubles, advanced to the quarterfinals with a 9-7 win over Damon Gooch and Philip Nemac of Elon in the round of 16.

Barrick and Singh, the No. 5 seed, scored an 8-5 win over Tobias Fanslow and Aleksandr Seleznev of Old Dominion in the round of 16.

The tournament continues Sunday and runs through Monday.
