BLACKSBURG, Va.The Virginia men’s basketball team returns to Atlantic Coast Conference play on Saturday (Jan. 10) when the Cavaliers play at Virginia Tech. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. and will be televised on the Regional Sports Networks (Comcast SportsNet in Virginia).

UVa enters the game with an overall record of 7-5 after defeating Brown 74-50 on Tuesday at John Paul Jones Arena. Sophomore forward Mike Scott led Virginia with 15 points and 10 rebounds, his fifth double-double of the season. Freshman guard Sammy Zeglinski added 14 points against the Bears.

The Cavaliers are 1-0 this season in conference play after an 88-84 overtime win at Georgia Tech on Dec. 28. Virginia is looking to open the ACC season 2-0 for the first time since 1994-95. That season was also the last time the Cavaliers won their first two conference road games of the season.

Virginia leads the series with Virginia Tech 78-49, but the Hokies are 26-15 against the Cavaliers in Blacksburg.

Last season, the Hokies won both meetings between the schools in overtime. Virginia Tech won 70-69 at John Paul Jones Arena and 72-65 at Cassell Coliseum.

Virginia Tech enters Saturday’s game with a record of 9-5, 0-1 in the ACC. The Hokies have not played since a 69-44 loss at Duke on Sunday in their ACC opener.

Following the game at Virginia Tech, Virginia returns to Charlottesville and will host North Carolina on Thursday at John Paul Jones Arena. Game time is 9 p.m. and the game will be televised nationally by ESPN.
