COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The top-seeded Virginia men’s tennis team travels to College Station, Texas this week for the 2009 NCAA Tennis Championships, held at the Mitchell Tennis Center on the campus of Texas A&M University. The Cavaliers are making their sixth consecutive trip to the NCAA Round of 16 and will meet ACC rival Florida State on Thursday at noon (CT).

The Cavaliers (31-0) advanced to the round of 16 after a pair of wins in the first two rounds of the tournament last week at the Snyder Tennis Center. Virginia defeated Navy 4-0 in the opening round and North Carolina 4-0 in the second round.

Virginia has met the Seminoles twice earlier this season. The Cavaliers won 4-3 in the regular season meeting in Tallahassee on March 29. In the ACC Tournament, Virginia downed Florida State 4-0 in the semifinals.

The Cavaliers are the No. 1 seed in the tournament for the second consecutive year. In each of the past two seasons, Virginia has lost to eventual national champion Georgia in the semifinals.
