CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia athletics department has announced it will hold an event to welcome the Cavalier baseball team back from its appearance at the 2009 College World Series at 6 p.m. Thursday.

The event will be held at UVa’s Davenport Field and is free to the public. Parking will be available at the University Hall parking lots beginning at 5 p.m.

The event is an opportunity for fans to congratulate the team on its outstanding 2009 season. Virginia made its first appearance in the College World Series and established a record for most wins in a season by a UVa baseball team. The Cavaliers also won the ACC Championship this year.

The 2009 team will be introduced and head coach Brian O’Connor will speak during the ceremonies. At the conclusion of the event, fans will be invited to come onto the field for autographs and to interact with the team.
