BLOOMINGTON, Ind — Virginia women’s tennis player Jennifer Stevens (Miami, Fla.) reached the final of the 2009 ITA Summer Championships hosted by the University of Indiana. Stevens, the No. 3 seed, won five matches before falling to Natalie Pluskota of Tennessee in the final.

In the championship match, Stevens won the first set before dropping the second. Pluskota won the match tiebreaker 10-4 to take the title.

By reaching the final, Stevens earns a wild card into the qualifying draw for the 2009 ITA All-American Championships in October.

Lindsey Hardenbergh (Fairfax Station, Va.) also had a strong showing earlier this month. She teamed with her father, Craig, to win the 2009 USTA Grass Court Father-Daughter National Doubles Championship.
