CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia men’s soccer team will play its second of three exhibition contests Monday night at Old Dominion. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. Live statistics will be available on VirginiaSports.com.

UVa fell in overtime to George Mason, 1-0, Friday night at Klöckner Stadium in an exhibition. The Cavaliers used two different line-ups for each half and out-shot the Patriots, 19-5, but George Mason forward Parker Walton scored a goal in the 92nd minute that was the difference in the match.

Virginia, picked to finish second in the ACC according to the head coaches’ preseason poll, is ranked No. 22 by College Soccer News.

Virginia leads the all-time series with ODU, 15-5-2, in matches dating back to 1971. The teams played an exhibition match last season, and the Cavaliers came away with a 3-0 victory on Aug. 23 in Charlottesville. Brian Ownby (Glen Allen, Va.) scored two goals in that contest to lead UVa.

Cavalier midfielder and reigning ACC Freshman of the Year Tony Tchani (Norfolk, Va.) was named as one of the 38 members of the Missouri Athletic Club’s Hermann Trophy Watch List. He was the Cavaliers’ leading goal-scorer last season with nine goals and three assists.

Ownby, meanwhile, spent the summer with the United States Under-20 Men’s National Team that played two international games as part of the Copa Ciudad de Rosario in Argentina. Last year, Ownby was an ACC All-Freshmen team selection and had five goals and four assists for the Cavaliers.

Following Monday’s match at Old Dominion, the Cavaliers have a final preseason exhibition contest on Saturday, Aug. 29 against West Virginia. Kick-off from Klöckner Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m.
