CHARLOTTESVILLE – A 17-game home schedule and at least eight televised contests highlight the Virginia women’s basketball team’s 2009-10 schedule released Friday (Aug. 25) by the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Among the teams scheduled to visit UVa’s John Paul Jones Arena during the 2009-10 season are ACC opponents Clemson, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Maryland, North Carolina, NC State and Virginia Tech. The Cavaliers also host non-conference opponents Cornell, Furman, James Madison, Liberty, Longwood, Manhattan, Purdue (Big Ten/ACC Challenge), Samford, St. Bonaventure, Tennessee, USC Upstate.

The Cavaliers’ home games vs. Maryland (Jan. 11) and North Carolina (Feb. 15) will be televised by ESPN2. Virginia’s games at Virginia Tech (Jan. 18), vs. Georgia Tech (Jan. 24), at Wake Forest (Jan. 31), at Maryland (Feb. 8), vs. Florida State (Feb. 22) and at Duke (Feb. 26) will all be televised by the ACC’s Regional Sports Network (RSN).

“We’re excited about our schedule and that we are playing at least eight games on television,” Virginia head coach Debbie Ryan said. “We are going to have a lot of exposure during the season and it is great to be in the ACC.”

Virginia has compiled an overall record of 42-11 in three seasons playing at home in John Paul Jones Arena.

UVa’s 2009-10 road schedule features the Junkanoo Jam in Freeport, Bahamas, games at UMBC, Georgia and Colorado, and seven games against ACC opponents. The Cavaliers are scheduled to play ACC games at Boston College, Duke, Florida State, Maryland, Miami, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.

The Cavaliers open the 2009-10 season on the road at UMBC on Nov. 13, before returning to John Paul Jones Arena for three-consecutive games vs. Manhattan (Nov. 15), USC Upstate (Nov. 18) and Tennessee (Nov. 22).

Sixteen of Virginia’s opponents during the 2009-10 season advanced to last year’s postseason (11 NCAA Tournament teams and five WNIT teams).

UVa women’s basketball season ticket holders from last season can sign into their customer account at VirginiaSports.com this afternoon to complete their ticket application online. 2008-09 season ticket holders will be e-mailed ordering information by Monday, Aug. 31, and will also receive a paper ticket application by mail shortly thereafter.

New buyers may purchase season tickets starting Friday (Aug. 28) afternoon by visiting VirginiaSports.com or by calling the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office at 1-800-542-8821 or 434-924-8821. Fans can also order in person at the athletics ticket office in Bryant Hall at Scott Stadium weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. The priority seating deadline for all season ticket orders is Tuesday, Sept. 22.

Season tickets are priced at $80 (reserved adult), $65 (general admission adult), $50 (reserved youth, senior, faculty/staff) and $45 (general admission youth, senior, faculty/staff). Season tickets provide admission to all 17 regular season games at John Paul Jones Arena this year and allow fans to save up to 67 percent off single-game ticket prices.
