Charlottesville, VA – The Virginia women’s golf team is ranked No. 8 in the Golfweek preseason rankings. The Cavaliers finished sixth in the final Golfweek poll last season after placing eighth at the NCAA Championships.

Defending national champion Arizona State tops the Golfweek preseason poll.

Junior Calle Nielson (second team) and senior Whitney Neuhauser (third team) were on Golfweek’s preseason watch list. Freshman Brittany Altomare was ranked as the No. 9 freshman in the nation to watch.

The Cavaliers, fresh off a third-place finish at the NGCA Match Play Championships, return to action Sept. 25-27 at the Mason Rudolph Championships in Franklin, Tenn.
