CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia women’s tennis team concluded a strong performance at the UVa Fall Invitational as play finished Sunday at the Snyder Tennis Center. The Cavaliers won four titles at the tournament, two of the three singles flights and two of the three doubles flights.

In singles Flight A, Lindsey Hardenbergh (Fairfax Station, Va.) rallied to upset No. 36 ranked Michaela Kissell of Marshall 3-6, 7-5, 6-4. Hardenbergh fought off two match points with Kissell serving at 6-3, 5-4 (40-15) late in the second set before rallying to win the second set and taking the final set for the victory. In the Flight A backdraw, Erin Vierra (Norwell, Mass.) and Hana Tomljanovic (Boca Raton, Fla.) recorded victories for the Cavaliers. Vierra’s win was a 6-0, 6-3 over No. 83 ranked Berkeley Brock of NC State, her third ranked victory of the weekend.

Neela Vaez (Perrysburg, Ohio) took the Flight C singles title with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Alex Whutehead of UNC Greensboro.

In the Flight A Doubles Championship, the team of Tomljanovic and Jennifer Stevens (Miami, Fla.) won their second tournament in as many weeks, defeating the team of Brock and Nagaraj of NC State 8-2.

The Flight B doubles title was an all-Virginia matchup with the team of Hardenbergh and Vierra winning the title 8-2 over Maria Fuccillo (Rockville, Md.) and Emily Fraser (Rye, N.Y.)

The Cavaliers return to action in early October at the ITA All-American Championships in Los Angeles.
