TULSA, Okla. — The Qualifying Draw of the 2009 ITA All-American Championships begin Monday with five Cavaliers in the draw. Houston Barrick (Brentwood, Tenn.), Drew Courtney (Clifton, Va.), Jarmere Jenkins (College Park, Ga.), Lee Singer (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) and Santiago Villegas (Bogota, Colombia) will compete for a spot in the main draw of the tournament, which is one of the three major tournaments each year in college tennis.

Four Cavaliers earned spots into the Qualifying Draw due to their preseason ranking. Barrick is the No. 3 seed in the qualifying draw and opens play with Alex Musialek of Kentucky. Singer is the No. 8 seed and will meet Skate Gorham of Brown in the first round. Courtney is the No. 32 seed and plays Adam Baker of Vanderbilt in the first round. Jenkins meets Vanderbilt’s Ryan Lipman in the first round. Villegas, who won three matches in the past two days in the Pre-Qualifying Draw, plays Daniel Nguyen of USC in the first round of Qualifying. Steven Eelkman Rooda (Amersfoort, the Netherlands) was also selected for the Qualifying Draw based on his preseason ranking, but had to withdraw due to injury.

The Qualifying Draw runs Monday-Wednesday at the Michael Case Tennis Center. The main draw begins Thursday. Michael Shabaz (Fairfax, Va.) and Sanam Singh (Chandigarh, India) are already in the 64-player main draw due to their preseason ranking.
