CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia volleyball team returns home this weekend to host No. 17 Florida State and Miami. The Cavaliers are set to face the Seminoles on Friday at 7 p.m., and the Hurricanes on Sunday at noon. Live statistics will be available for both matches.

Coming off a 2-0 weekend, the Cavaliers look to continue their winning streak after a 3-0 sweep of Maryland and a 3-2 win over Boston College.

Virginia (9-13, 4-7 ACC) is led by sophomore Simone Asque, who is pacing the attack with 277 kills and was named the ACC Player of the Week on Tuesday. Defensively, junior AJ Cushman leads the team with 284 digs and has landed 30 service aces. Freshmen Jessica O’Shoney and Rachel Gray are also contributing for the Cavaliers, as O’Shoney has blocked 51 attacks and Gray has dished out 744 assists this season.

Florida State (19-2, 10-1 ACC) is coming off a 2-0 weekend, topping NC State and North Carolina. The Seminoles are led by Mira Djiroc’s 207 kills, while Nikki Baker has dished out 448 assists. Defensively, Jenna Romanelli has dug 186 attacks and Jordana Price has blocked 88.

Miami (13-8, 6-5 ACC) is coming off a 1-1 weekend, dropping a three-set match to North Carolina and sweeping NC State. Lane Carico leads the attack with 349 kills. Nrithya Sundararaman has dished out 543 assists and Cassie Loessberg leads the defense with 400 digs.

Florida State leads the all-time series against Virginia, 28-13, winning 11 of the first 12 matches from 1987-1995. The last three years of the series, Virginia has held the lead with a 5-2 record over the Seminoles.

Miami and Virginia first faced each other in volleyball in 2004, with UVa leading the series, 6-3. Last year, Virginia rallied, recovering from a two-set deficit to beat the Hurricanes, 3-2.

Following this weekend, the Cavaliers will head south to face North Carolina on Friday, Nov. 6 at 5 p.m. Virginia will conclude the weekend with a clash against NC State on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m.
