Charlottesville, VA – Virginia junior women’s golfer Calle Nielson (Nashville, Tenn.) has been named the Tennessee Golf Association’s 2009 Women’s Amateur Player of the Year for the second consecutive year. Nielson’s honor comes primarily from her performance in three prominent amateur events that she competed this past year.
At this year’s Women’s Trans National Amateur Championship she earned the number-one see following stroke play and reached the quarterfinal round of the event’s match play format.
She also reached the match play level of the 2009 North & South Women’s Amateur and the 2009 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championships, winning in the first round of both events.
Last spring she placed sixth at the NCAA Championships, helping Virginia to a best-ever eighth-place performance.
