CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 19 Virginia wrestling team dominated Princeton Saturday afternoon, winning all 10 bouts in a 42-0 road victory over the Tigers at Dillon Gym in Princeton, N.J. Six of the Cavaliers’ wins resulted in bonus points, highlighted by pins by Brent Jones (Sr., Burke, Va.), Matt Snyder (R-Fr., Lewistown, Pa.) and Dave Ebbott (R-So., Blue Bell, Pa.).

Jones won his 100th career match – just the seventh Cavalier to reach the 100-win plateau. Already the school’s career pins record holder, Jones notched his 41st career fall and seventh this season when he pinned Charles Fox in just 52 seconds at 197 pounds.

Virginia (14-5) also received a fall from Snyder, who pinned Anthony Comunale in 1:25 at 133 pounds. The pin was Snyder’s fifth of the year but his first while competing in the 133-pound weight class. At 149, Ebbott needed 5:35 to pin Daniel Kolodzik for his second fall of the season.

UVa also got three major decisions against Princeton (4-7). Third-ranked Chris Henrich (Jr., Lansdale, Pa.) just missed a technical fall at 174 pounds, falling a point shy as he dominated Michael Erdman, 22-8. A winner of 10 straight matches, Henrich is now 25-2 this year. He also recorded his 91st career win to move into an eighth-place tie with current UVa head coach Steve Garland (1997-2000).

At 157 pounds, No. 14 Danny Gonsor (R-So., Cleveland, Ohio) registered an 11-2 major decision over Princeton’s Danny Scotton. At heavyweight, Jack Danilkowicz (R-Jr., Green Oaks, Ill.) rolled to an 18-7 major against the Tigers’ Robert Grogan.

The Cavaliers also won four weight classes by decision. At 125 pounds, Ross Gitomer (R-Sr., Flemington, N.J.) won 7-6 against Garrett Frey. The victory was Gitomer’s 86th career triumph as he matched Paul Bjorlo (2001-05) for 12th in the UVa career annals.

At 141, Derek Valenti (So., Newton, N.J.) finished off a sweep of his weekend matches with a 4-2 decision over Luis Ramos. Valenti improved to 20-6 this season.

At 165, Beau Fisher (Sr., Grove City, Pa.) fell a point shy of a major decision in his 14-7 victory over Princeton’s Andrew Lowy. No. 20 Mike Salopek (R-Fr., North Huntingdon, Pa.) added an 8-2 win against Kurt Brendel. Salopek won both his bouts this weekend and now is 24-8 this season.

Virginia is home again next Saturday when it plays host to No. 25 Old Dominion and George Mason at Memorial Gymnasium.
