BATON ROUGE, La. – The Virginia softball team (1-3) dropped its first two games of the LSU Tiger Classic Friday, falling to No. 4 Michigan 13-0 in five innings and 19th ranked LSU 3-0. The tournament is being held at Tiger Field in Baton Rouge, La. The Cavaliers continue play vs. Oklahoma State at 11 a.m. CT Saturday.

Both offenses were limited in the contest vs. LSU, though the Tigers (4-3) picked up three runs in the first inning to take an early lead. LSU outhit Virginia 4-2, as starter Melanie Mitchell pitched all six innings with five strikeouts. Nicole Koren and Lauren McCaskey each had singles for Virginia.

In the first game of the day, Michigan (3-2) also jumped out to an early lead with five runs in the top of the first. The Wolverines finished with 14 hits compared to two for Virginia, singles by Giannina Cipolloni and Alison Pittman.
