Charlottesville, VA – The No. 17 Virginia women’s golf team travels to New Orleans this week to play in LSUs 23-team Tiger/Wave Golf Classic March 12-14 at English Turn Country Club. The 54-hole tournament will feature 18 holes of play starting at 7:50 a.m. CT Friday and Saturday and an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start Sunday.

Virginia won last year’s event (LSU Golf Classic) in Baton Rouge at 8-under 856. It was the lowest 54-hole total in school history and UVa’s final round 284 equaled the lowest single round ever shot by the Cavaliers. It was the second team victory in the history of the program.

Virginia sophomore Calle Nielson tied for first-place overall, but lost medalist honors in a three-way playoff that was claimed by Arkansas’ Lucy Nunn on the second hole of extra play. Nielson finished with a score of 7-under 209, the second lowest 54-hole tournament score for a Cavalier. Whitney Neuhauser was fifth at 211.

Virginia’s lineup for the tournament will include Neuhauser, Nielson, Brittany Altomore, Nicole Agnello and Eleana Collins. Lauren Greenlief will compete as an individual.
