Charlottesville, VA – Virginia sophomore men’s golfer Ben Kohles (Cary, N.C.) has been named an honorable mention selection to the 2010 PING All-America team the Golf Coaches Association of America announced today.

Kohles led UVa and the Atlantic Coast Conference with a 71.32 stroke average this year. He finished first in three tournaments and was UVa’s top scorer in six events. Kohles shot par or better during 21 of his 38 rounds this year. He tied the Virginia single-round scoring record when he posted a 7-under 63 at the Palmetto Intercollegiate in March.

Kohles becomes the first Virginia player to earn All-America honors since James Driscoll in 2000. He is the sixth Cavalier player to be named an All-American.

Kohles was previously named to the GCAA All-East Region Team and the All-ACC squad. He was named the league’s co-Player of the Year.
