CHARLOTTESVILLE — Only twice during the regular season did UVa’s baseball team use the same batting order in back-to-back games.

Coach Brian O’Connor hasn’t varied his lineup nearly as much in the postseason. In each of the past seven games — the Cavaliers’ finale in the ACC tournament and their six games in the NCAAs — O’Connor has used the same batting order.

Phil Gosselin has led off, followed, in order, by Keith Werman, Dan Grovatt, Steven Proscia, Jarrett Parker, John Hicks, Tyler Cannon, Franco Valdes and, in the No. 9 slot, John Barr.

In the NCAA tournament, the only other players to have batted for UVa — as pinch-hitters — are Reed Gragnani (0 for 2), Kenny Swab (0 for 2) and David Coleman (0 for 1).

Four Cavaliers are hitting better than .400 in the NCAAs: Barr (.474), Parker (.429), Hicks (.429) and Gosselin (.423). Werman, who for the season leads Virginia with a .423 average, is at .304 in the NCAA tourney.

At 7 p.m. Monday, (51-13) meets Oklahoma (48-16) in the deciding game of the super regional at Davenport Field. The winner advances to the College World Series, which starts Saturday in Omaha, Neb.
