CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia announced its 2010 women’s soccer schedule, which includes 10 home games at Klöckner Stadium. This season, the Cavaliers play 12 of their 18 games against teams that participated in last season’s NCAA Tournament. Four of those opponents reached at least the quarterfinals, including reigning national champion North Carolina.

“We believe that we have once again put together a strong schedule that will be challenging from beginning to end,” said head coach Steve Swanson. “We have some good non-conference matches, especially in our tournament and the one at Penn State, that will provide good preparation for the ACC. The conference will once again be one of the toughest in the nation. Eight of the 11 ACC teams made last year’s NCAA Tournament and the conference should be just as good, if not better, this year.”

The Cavaliers’ home schedule includes dates with NCAA Champion North Carolina and 2009 Tournament quarterfinalists Boston College and Wake Forest, along with traditional powers Duke and Texas. ACC rival NC State, in-state rivals Liberty and Richmond, and 2009 NCAA Tournament participants Colgate and Boston University round out the home slate.

“Our home schedule will be very exciting for our fans,” said Swanson. “This will rank among the best group of teams we have ever had come to Klöckner in a season. There will be many great games and we look forward to seeing our fans come out every game and provide us with that great home field advantage.”

Soccer season tickets will go on sale July 6. Last year’s season ticket holders will be receiving a renewal application in the mail. All other fans can begin to order season tickets online at VirginiaSports.com and by phone at 1-800-542-8821 beginning July 6.
