CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Two members of the Virginia field hockey team, juniors Paige Selenski (Shavertown, Pa.) and Michelle Vittese (Cherry Hill, N.J.), have been named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference preseason team, announced Wednesday by the league office. The Cavaliers were also picked to finish third in conference standings.

Both Selenski and Vittese are coming off a European Tour with the United States National Team where they each earned their first international caps.

Selenski is a two-time All-American and All-ACC selection for the Orange and Blue. As a sophomore in 2009 she was a semifinalist for the Honda Award and was named the South Region player of the year, in addition to being selected to the NCAA and ACC All-Tournament teams. Last season Selenski led Virginia with 27 goals, including a conference-best eight game-winners.

Vittese earned her first career All-America honor as a sophomore in 2009. She contributed six goals and nine assists en route to picking up all-conference honors. Vittese was also named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team.

Both Selenski and Vittese were named to the preseason All-ACC squad for the second consecutive season.

Virginia is coming off a year in which the Cavaliers returned to the NCAA semifinals for the first time since 1998 and set program records for wins (20) and games played (24) in a season.

Defending NCAA national champion North Carolina was picked to finish first with ACC Tournament champion Maryland second.
