CHARLOTTESVILLE – The second-ranked Virginia men’s soccer team hosts 17th-ranked St. John’s Sunday (Sept. 5) at 3 p.m. at Klöckner Stadium. Live statistics will be available at VirginiaSports.com.

Prior to the Cavaliers’ match, Virginia Tech and UAB will play in a noon match-up at Klöckner Stadium.

Friday night, Virginia (1-0) opened its 2010 campaign with a 2-1 victory over UAB. After trailing 1-0 in the second half, UVa rallied on goals from Sean Hiller (Howell, N.J.) and Will Bates (Chester, Va.) to earn the win.

St. John’s (1-0) was also victorious in its season-opener, defeating ACC opponent Virginia Tech 2-0 on Friday afternoon.

Virginia is unbeaten in its last 17 games (14-0-3), dating back to an Oct. 2, 2009 loss at North Carolina.

The Cavaliers lead the series with St. John’s, 3-1, but St. John’s won the last meeting in 2008. In that contest, the Red Storm handed UVa a 1-0 season-opening loss on Aug. 29 at Klöckner Stadium.

Following Sunday’s match, Virginia opens ACC play on Saturday, Sept. 11, at Duke. Kick-off is 7 p.m.
