Charlottesville – The Virginia men’s golf team is ranked 20th in the preseason standings released by Golf World and the NIKE Golf Coaches Poll. The Cavaliers tied for 11th at last year’s NCAA Championships.

Oklahoma State, the runners-up at last year’s NCAA Championships, tops the poll. Virginia is one of five ACC schools listed in the poll. Georgia Tech is ranked No. 10, Florida State is No. 13, Clemson is No. 17 and Duke is No. 19.

UVa junior Ben Kohles is listed among the nation’s top 50 players to watch. The ACC co-Player of the Year in 2010, Kohles led the Cavaliers with a 71.32 stroke average.

The Cavaliers open the season Sept. 13-15 at The Fall Preview in College Station, Texas.
