GREENSBORO, N.C. – Redshirt junior Ryan Collins has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Cross Country Performer of the Week, while redshirt senior Stephanie Garcia and Boston College’s Caroline King share this week’s Women’s Cross Country honor.

Collins took third place in the men’s 8k race at this past weekend’s Lou Onesty Open. The Mansfield, Mass., native completed the course with a time of 25:13 and led the 22nd-ranked Cavaliers to a second-place finish at the meet. Norfolk State won the title with 38 points, while Virginia earned 43.

Garcia, from South Riding, Va., captured her first-ever individual meet honor, winning the Lou Onesty Open 5k race. Finishing in a personal-best time of 17:55.35 at Panorama Farms, Garcia led the 10th-ranked Cavaliers to a perfect score and the team title, outdistancing in-state rival VCU, who finished second with 62 points.

The Cavaliers will return to action on Friday, Oct. 1, heading to Bethlehem, Pa., to compete in the Paul Short Invitational.
