GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia freshman McKenzie Adams has been named the ACC Freshman of the Week for the second time after helping the Cavaliers to back-to-back wins over conference foes Miami and No. 25 Florida State this weekend.

Adams landed the game-winning kill against the nationally ranked Seminoles Sunday afternoon to secure UVa its second-ever win over a top-25 foe, and its first since defeating No. 22 Georgia Tech in 1996. Adams finished the match with 13 kills and eight digs.

On Friday night, Adams recorded her fifth double-double, knocking down 18 kills and picking up 12 digs, to help the Cavaliers to a four-set victory over Miami. She also blocked five attacks in the contest.

For the weekend, Adams had 31 kills, hit .247 and landed two service aces, while picking up 20 digs and six blocks. She averaged 3.44 kills per set and 2.22 digs per game.

This marks the second time Adams has been tabbed the ACC Freshman of the Week and the third time a Cavalier has earned the award this season. Freshman Emily Rottman was named the season’s first rookie of the week on Aug. 30, while Adams garnered the honor on Oct. 11.

Virginia will host Maryland and Boston College in its final home matches of the season this weekend. The Cavaliers will face the Terrapins on Friday, before taking on the Eagles Saturday on Senior Day. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., in Memorial Gymnasium.
