Virginia Head Coach George Gelnovatch
“There are a lot of great memories at Cary over the years and in particular with the past couple of years with the College Cup last year and the ACC Championship last year. It is great to be back and the weather is fantastic. We’re obviously very, very happy and pleased with the result. I think anytime you get a win in this conference regardless of where it comes from, it means a lot. I think Wake Forest is a very, very good team. They’re a very young team. Vidovich is a great coach in a great program and I know that moving forward that team will be very good.”

“Part of the discipline and organization is winning tackles, winning the challenges, and picking up what we call second balls or loose balls. For us, that’s the foundation of who we are and I think we got away from it a little bit today. Today really got us back on track. We did well with it. “

Virginia Junior Midfielder Hunter Jumper
“I think in the first half we had a free kick and we were on the corner of the 18. We noticed they didn’t really have a guy there. In the second half, one of our players on the ball noticed that also and we talked about it a little. We made eye contact after we saw nobody was there. He played a good ball and I was lucky enough to get a hit on it. By the time it came to the keeper, it was just a reaction save. It was a great hit and a great feeling.”

Wake Forest Head Coach Jay Vidovich
“Obviously, we’re tremendously disappointed. It means not only the termination of the ACC tournament, but also our hopes of playing afterwards. So, that’s a difficult thing to handle. I’m proud of the guys fighting through the very end, the progress throughout the year, but we certainly have a lot to work for next year.”
