CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia will play its first ACC road contest of the season Sunday (Jan. 9) at 19th-ranked Florida State. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m., at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center in Tallahassee, Fla., and the game will be televised by Fox Sports Florida.

Additionally, the game will be broadcast over the airwaves on WINA 1070 AM in the Charlottesville area with Jay James and Myron Ripley calling the action. That broadcast is available on the Internet with a subscription to V Pass. Live statistics are available at VirginiaSports.com.

Virginia (10-6) is seeking its first conference win of the year after falling at home to Miami, 82-73, on Thursday night in its ACC opener.

Junior forward Chelsea Shine and junior guard Ariana Moorer are each averaging 11.3 points per game for the Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers are out-rebounding opponents, 661-549 (+7.0 margin) this season and are 9-1 when out-rebounding an opponent.

Florida State (13-3, 1-0 ACC) represents the sixth-ranked opponent of the season for Virginia following games vs. No. 4 Tennessee, No. 17 Iowa State, No. 10 West Virginia, No. 21 TCU and No. 6 Ohio State. The Cavaliers hold a 1-4 record against ranked opponents this season.

Florida State (13-3 overall, 1-0 ACC, 7-1 at home) is coming off a 79-48 victory over Virginia Tech in its ACC opener.

The Seminoles were picked to finish third in the ACC preseason poll and received two first place votes. They are currently ranked No. 24 by the Associated Press and No. 19 by the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll.

Sue Semrau is in her 14th season as head coach of Florida State and has a 247-169 while there.

Cierra Bravard leads the team in scoring (13.8 ppg) and rebounding (7.5 rpg). Freshman Natasha Howard and Alexa Deluzio add 11.5 and 11.4 points per game, respectively.

Virginia leads the all-time series with Florida State, 30-11, but the Seminoles have won two-straight in the series.

Sunday is the first of two-straight ACC road games for Virginia, as it heads to Georgia Tech on Thursday, Jan. 13.
