CHARLOTTESVILLE – The top-ranked Virginia men’s tennis team improved to 4-0 on the season with a pair of victories Sunday at the Boyd Tinsley Courts at the Boar’s Head Sports Club. The Cavaliers defeated No. 36 Notre Dame 9-1 in the first match of the day and followed that with a 9-0 win over Eastern Kentucky in the day’s second match.

Against the Fighting Irish (1-1), the teams played an alternative scoring match with eight singles and four doubles matches. The match started with the teams splitting the No. 7 and No. 8 singles matches, with Philippe Oudshoorn (Apeldoorn, The Netherlands) winning at No. 8 for the Cavaliers.
