CHARLOTTESVILLE-The Atlantic Coast Conference men’s basketball game between Maryland and Virginia will be played as scheduled at John Paul Jones Arena on Thursday (Jan. 27). The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Inclement weather in the Charlottesville area on Wednesday (Jan. 26) is forecast to clear on Thursday. Atlantic Coast Conference protocol indicates games should be played if both teams and two of the three game officials have arrived at the site. The Maryland team is scheduled to arrive in Charlottesville Wednesday evening and game officials are aware of the weather situation.

“We want our fans to know that we are planning to play Thursday’s game,” said Virginia Athletics Director Craig Littlepage. “We also want fans to check current weather and road conditions before traveling to the game.”
