CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia women’s basketball team faces NC State Thursday night (Feb. 10) at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, N.C. Tip-off is schedule for 7 p.m., and live statistics will be available at VirginiaSports.com. Additionally, the game will air locally on WINA 1070 AM with Jay James and Larry Johnson calling the action.

Virginia (13-12, 2-7 ACC) is coming off a 78-74 loss to 14th-ranked Florida State Monday (Feb. 7) at John Paul Jones Arena. The Cavaliers battled back from a 17-point second-half deficit to cut the margin to two points with under a minute left in the game, but the Seminoles held on for the victory.

Junior forward Chelsea Shine (Wayne, Pa.) averages 10.6 points per game to lead UVa, while freshman Ataira Franklin (Bowie, Md.) is the only Cavalier averaging double-figure scoring (12.3 ppg) in conference contests.

Virginia is 1-7 on the road this season and 0-4 when playing an ACC opponent on the road.

NC State (10-13, 1-7 ACC) is coming off an 88-59 loss at No. 12 Maryland on Feb. 6. The Wolfpack is led by Bonae Holston (15.9 points and 8.1 rebounds per game) and Marissa Kastanek (13.7 ppg).

NC State head coach Kellie Harper is in her second season at the school and has posted a 30-27 record. Her overall coaching tally is 126-92 (seventh season).

NC State is 7-4 overall at home this season and 1-3 at home against ACC opponents.

Virginia leads the all-time series with NC State, 35-31. The teams met twice during the 2009-10 season, most recently in the quarterfinals of the 2010 ACC Tournament. The Wolfpack came away with a 66-59 victory in that contest (March 5, 2010) played at the Greensboro Coliseum. In games played in Raleigh, Virginia is 12-18 all-time vs. NC State.

Following Thursday’s match-up, Virginia travels to Maryland on Sunday (Feb. 13). Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Comcast Center.
