CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia men’s lacrosse team is ranked No. 2 in three of the four major preseason polls, entering the 2011 season. The fourth poll, the USILA coaches poll ranks UVa No. 1.

The Cavaliers grace the No. 2 spot in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse, Face-Off Yearbook and Lacrosse Magazine polls.

Head coach Dom Starsia’s squad features 28 returning lettermen, including seven starters, from last year’s team that posted a 16-2 record. The Cavaliers advanced to the national semifinals for the third consecutive season before falling to Duke, the eventual national champion.

UVa opens its season on Saturday against Drexel at Klöckner Stadium. Faceoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
