CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia junior tennis player Emily Fraser (Rye, N.Y.) was named the ACC Women’s Tennis Co-Player of the Week, conference officials announced Tuesday. Fraser, who shares this week’s award with Bianca Eichkorn of Miami, led the No. 25 Cavaliers to wins over No. 55 Marshall and No. 66 Winthrop on Sunday.

Fraser, who moved up to a career-high No. 41 in this week’s ITA singles rankings, posted one of the biggest wins of her career last week, topping then-No. 27 Michaela Kissell of Marshall 6-1, 6-1. She followed that with a straight set win over Elizaveta Zaytseva of Winthrop in the second match of the doubleheader.

The award is the first of Fraser’s career and the first for a Cavalier this season.

The Cavaliers, who are off to a school-record 6-0 start to the season, will host the ITA National Team Indoor Championships this week at the Boar’s Head Sports Club. The event features 16 of the top teams in the nation and will run Friday-Monday. Virginia opens the tournament against No. 3 Baylor on Friday at 12:30 p.m. Admission is free.
